LAKE PICHOLA


Lake Pichola is an artificial lake created at Udaipur, Rajasthan in the year of 1362 AD. It is name Pichola after the village which is located nearby named Picholi Village. Two islands are located within Lake Pichola. It was built by Gypsy 'Banjara' tribesman. These people were involved in transporting grains. Later Maharana Udai Singh founded the Udaipur City, and enlarged this lake. You can click here to have a view at this Lake Pichola.

Interesting facts about Lake Pichola


1. You can have a classic view of The City Palace, Taj Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, Arsi Palace, The Leela, Udaivilas, Ambrai Ghat and much more.


2. There is an Island named Arsi Palace, which was used by Maharanas to store Arms and Ammunitions. It was also structured to enjoy the view of Sunsets at Lake.


3. Lake Pichola hosts numerous varieties of migrated birds, which includes Tufted Ducks, Coots, Egrets, Terns, Cormorants, Kingfishers and more.


4. This lake is connected with two main lakes in Udaipur i.e. Swaroop Sagar and Fateh Sagar. Water flow is managed in such a way that all water spots are filled through proper channels. And used for irrigation and drinking water supply purposes.


5. Udaipur was hit by Drought from 1998 to 2005. All lakes were declared dry at this period. Have a look at below picture.
