Location
This church is situated in a village in Karnataka. You can go to Shettihalli village during monsoon (to see the magic). This church is about 2 km from the centre location of the village. From Bangalore Shettihalli church is around 200 km. You can commute through trail or bus. Buses can drop you directly to the Church.
History
Shettihalli Rosary Church was built in 1860's by french missionaries called on special request by the wealthy British estate owners. Church was flourished with gatherings at that time. Many weddings and Christmas celebrations were used to take place here. About after 100 years of its construction, In 1960, this place was abandoned after the construction of Hemavati Dam. Since then the remains of Shettihalli Rosary Church are present here.
Exciting about the place
Shettihalli Church is know as the Drowning Church due to special event happening at this place. During the months of July to October, i.e the monsoon season, this church remains submerged in water. But if you will visit here between Dec to May, you will find it standing on the ground with all of its Glory. It means if you want to witness the beauty of this place, you need to visit here twice in a year.
