The Cyclone in India

Ockhi - The 'Eye'

Hi Friends, as we know India is under attack of Cyclone 'Ockhi', so today I want to share some information about this cyclone.

'Ockhi' is name given after Bengali word for 'Eye' or in hindi 'Aanke". Since 2015 's cyclone 'Megh', that has given worst memories in Oman, Somalia and Yemen...Ockhi is considered to be the most intense cyclone.

Ockhi originated near Sri Lanka over Bay of Bengal on 29th November 2017. A deep depression in Bay of Bengal near Tamil Nadu intensified into cyclone Ockhi, this resulted in heavy rains with strong wind which uprooted around 500 trees, snapped power lines, . You can watch a shot of this cyclone here.

1. On 30th November 2017, in Kanyakumari the situation was such worrysome that more than 1000        people were evacuated from low lying areas. Around 15 people died in coastal Kerala and Tamil        Nadu. Nearly 100 fishermen are missing till date. Ockhi headed towards Lakshadweep.

2. On 1st December 2017, Ockhi got more strengthened and triggered Red Alert for Lakshadweep, it      was the highest category alert. Rescue operation began, with help of Air Force, Navy and Coast          Guards fishermen were rescued in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Trains were delayed, resheduled and          cancelled in effected states.

3. On 2nd December, Kerala Govt. declared 'Ockhi' as a National Calamity. 531 fishermen rescued, s      said CM of Kerala. In Lakshdweep around 5 fishermen boats damaged completely. Ockhi headed        towards Mumbai and Gujarat

4. Union Minister Mr. Alphons Kannanthanam, said that cyclone can not  be called as National                disaster. But surely it is a intense cyclone and necessary steps to rescue and safeguard people is          important task. Our of  500 missing fishermen around 100 are still missing in Kerala.

5. Today 5th December , the 'very severe' status of Ockhi weakened to 'Severe'. But still Maharastra        and Gujarat government are preparing for any emergency. People are advised not to visit beaches.      Police, Fire brigade, coast guard and navy are on there toes for any upcoming emergency that may      arise in Mumbai and Gujarat.

I believe we will definitely face this cyclone and will surely up-come to a bright day.

That's all for this post.
